Don’t let it go to waste
The Haakaa breast pump is amazing! It’s so easy to use and clean, and perfect for catching let-down or “extra” milk while nursing. I just pop it on the other side while feeding, and it collects ounces I would’ve otherwise lost. It’s quiet, portable, and made of soft silicone that feels comfortable. Such a simple little tool, but it’s made a big difference in saving milk and building a freezer stash — highly recommend!

Highly recommend for easing in to pumping
I am a first time mom and only 2 weeks in to breastfeeding so I didn’t want to start with an electric pump yet. The Haakaa manual pump suctions on super well and reserves all my leaking milk that would otherwise go to waste. It stays on really well and i love that I can latch it on at the same time as my son breastfeeds on the other side. The Haakaa is easy to use, easy to clean, and is a no fuss option for anyone looking to include a bottle of collected milk here and there, rather than transitioning to a full on electric pump. I definitely recommend it!

    IN LOVE with my Haakaas!
I seriously love these so much, I got two and am debating getting two more. Wish I had them with earlier kids. I use them everyday, mostly to relieve myself when my baby is still sleeping and my milk starts leaking, or most often, to catch milk on available breast when baby is feeding on the other. I’ve accumulated jars and jars of milk for the freezer, I cannot believe that I had been using an extra burp cloth or letting the extra milk soak into my nursing bra or shirt before and foolishly thinking it was barely anything. Both of my free insurance electric double pumps have been chucked into storage – sorry!!!! Those were just too hard to use and clean/sanitize all the parts (who has time for that?!! – and that was with my husband doing all the sanitizing LOL). I am a huge fan of any baby product, especially one that is being used so frequently, that cleans as conveniently as possible. These are it. In the newborn phase, we did soap and boil cleanse daily but a few months down the road now, I just quickly rinse with non-scented soap after transferring the milk out (into a glass jar that I store in the fridge daily), then lay on a towel to air dry. It’s hard to beat the convenience of these Haakaas plus the fact that they suction-attach onto your breasts so you don’t need to buy those expensive extra fancy nursing bras that also have the fabric designed to hold the pump cups to your breasts – I now don’t even need to use that feature on mine anyway because I find it more convenient to just drop the entire nursing bra flap down and quickly suction the Haaka on myself when I need. Guess I don’t have to buy more of those fancy bras. Just more Haakas maybe, lol.Update: I started walking around with them on under my shirt when I’m having a nursing bra free day, just gotta be careful you don’t accidentally knock them off yourself because I often forget they’re on me.WARNING: watch out that your baby doesn’t slap or ninja kick it clear off your breast when it’s full of milk like mine has done a few times at the end of a feeding session…Downsides:1) The more it fills with milk, the weaker the suction gets. Maybe due to reduced air pressure and the heavier weight of the Haakaas.2) Silicone picks up smells. Use unscented soap. Also when I’ve been in a rush, I’ve been guilty of putting a Haakaa into the fridge for a few hours. When I take it out, the silicone has taken on a slight smell of the inside of my fridge, so maybe you’re not supposed to do that. Soaking in vinegar for a few hours or boiling gets rid of smell.3) Takes a little time to get used to the feel of them suctioned on you. It’s a bit uncomfortable at first but now I sometimes forget they’re on me. They hurt a bit if you suction-attach on an empty breast.4) If you wear them as frequently as I do, they leave suction marks around your breasts. Doesn’t hurt but doesn’t look pretty – fades within a day. Your husband might also ask you why you are walking around with those things on all the time but will get used to seeing your breasts squished inside of the Haakaas poking up under a giant T-shirt or robe (or nothing).5) 4 oz does not collect 4 oz. More like 3.5 oz. You won’t want it too full anyway, see #1.6) Using as a manual pump doesn’t work for me. I was 3ish weeks postpartum when I first got these. I first tried one as a manual pump during a feeding session but it stayed empty, even after my letdown. I was upset it failed and went back to covering my breast with a burp cloth. I thought they didn’t work and I was frustrated since they are non refundable. A few days later while baby was napping, I wanted to do some cleaning. My usual milk catchers weren’t cleaned yet, so I thought I’d use the Haakaas as a substitute in case I started leaking and baby was still sleeping (I figured they should pay for themselves somehow). At the end of the hour, I realized that they had collected 1-2 oz of milk each. Surprisingly, I hadn’t felt my milk coming out. So these work beautifully for me as milk catchers vs. as a manual pump. I also hand-express when my breasts need more relief than the Haakaas can give.7) No suction base. Can be easily knocked over. You can’t just put it down on the counter or nightstand. I have to remember to bring an extra cup to set it down inside of.

Affordable, Effective, and a Breastfeeding Essential
I absolutely loved this Haakaa manual pump. It’s simple, affordable, and it works, exactly what I needed. For such a low price, it delivers amazing value. It’s soft, comfortable to use, and super easy to clean.I mainly used it to catch let-down while nursing on the other side, and it helped me save so much milk I would’ve otherwise lost to a nursing pad. It’s also small and quiet, perfect for those middle-of-the-night or on-the-go moments.Honestly, it became one of my favorite breastfeeding tools. If you’re a new mom or just want something simple and effective, I highly recommend it!

    Didn’t work for us.
So i bought these for my wife, after about 30 minutes of pumping we got little under an Oz of milk. She’s generally a 40 C-Cup but i guess they are a little bigger now. Honestly i really don’t think we’re using it incorrectly so yea, didnt work for us.Update since last review: The pump actually works, it seems we were not using it correctly because she stopped using the electric ones and has resorted to this one. What my wife was asking for with the product is a strap that goes around the neck something that helps to hold the pump. Also she said it looses suction when milk is in it, at a level where she wasn’texpecting it to. Overall, she is totally satisfied with it. I mean the product will work differently for each person depending on size and shape etc.

    Average quality
The pump does its job, but it takes some effort and time to get enough milk. It’s okay for occasional use, but not very comfortable for longer sessions.
