There’s a considerable amount of color variation from plate to plate; that doesn’t bother me at all, because they’re made by putting fallen palm leaves in a steam press with a little starch (or some other biodegradable goop) to hold them together. They are also sometimes a little wonky, in that they are not completely flat. Again, this is not an issue for me. I like that these don’t involve pulping thousands of acres of planted monoculture softwoods, and they represent the reuse of what would otherwise be agricultural waste. (Oil palm trees, I assume.) They have a smell that’s a little weird, but it dissipates within a half hour of spreading them out on the table before using them. The trimmed edge that turns them into circles is also not sanded to a finished edge, so knock off the little shreds of fiber before you put food on them. Overall, I think that they do the job they need to do well enough, that they’re sturdy, and handle wet food without soaking through.

Better than paper plates
We used these for my daughter‘s wedding reception. We received a lot of compliments on how cool these plates were and loved that they were biodegradable. They are definitely sturdy. We kept a few and washed them. So far I’ve only used those twice so not sure how long they will last.

These ranged from vanilla/beige color to brown/black tone. If you are ok with that, they are great!

Good quality plates
Ordered these for a couple parties. Needed twice as much in this size for appetizers as well as dessert plates, so the 200 count was a good deal for the price. Nice quality, I didn’t see any of the occasional “off” plates that can pop up in a batch of palm plates.
