Great product but caution on the Rhodiola
I have been on a journey to sleep better for months. I am constantly exhausted and Garmin reports very little restful sleep resulting in a body battery that rarely got above 30 and drained to zero by early evening. I have tried tons of sleep aids with mixed success but what kept showing up in my Garmin sleep data as that my stress levels were sky high WHILE sleeping even with good sleep practices, meditation, sleep aids, etc. I talked to 5 different docs and no answers so in desperation I began my own research and finally found that it was likely my nervous system that was staying locked in fight or flight scanning for danger and on cortisol overload while sleeping so I never fully rested. I had my good buddy Dr. C (ChatGPT) put together a new protocol to reduce my cortisol and improve my sleep and it came up with a recommended list of supplements to specifically address my issue. Color me ecstatic when I found this sleep aid with everything I needed. My only addition was a more Glycine to get to the target 3-5g. Immediately my sleep data improved – after 2am that is. After 2am my stress levels fell into perfect range and I had my first truly restful sleep in years from 2-7am. BUT those pesky hours from 10-2 were still showing high stress and low quality sleep. After more research I found the likely culprit – Rhodiola which is in this product. Rhodiola is awesome and can really work to help lower cortisol and other benefits but WHEN you take it matters. It can also act as a mild STIMULANT delaying your body’s cortisol drop for 2-4 hours – my exact window. So to test out Dr. C’s hypothesis, I stopped this supplement for 2 nights (kept the Glycine) and my stress numbers went dropped to perfect range within 30 minutes of bed and my deep and REM sleep started much sooner. The catch was my sleep overall wasn’t as good as with this supplement. So this supplement is a great combo for getting good sleep but be aware if you are sensitive like me that the Rhodiola could be an issue. My recommendation/request to the manufacturer would be to remove the Rhodiola and you would have a 100% home run product. For now I am having to custom mix other supplements to get all the same ingredients as here WITHOUT the Rhodiola or take this one hours before bed which isn’t ideal. I would LOVE to see this manufacturer – who clearly gets it – come out with a version that removes the Rhodiola and I would likely be a customer for life! If you are on the fence I would still recommend trying it because it had the most positive impact of anything I have tried so far and no grogginess so still a great option.
