Highly moisturizing
The lotion seemed to have exploded in transit, but it seems to be very thick and hydrating for the skin. Baby loves to play with the elephant and chew on its nose. The baby oil, lotion and gel have a pleasant smell that is not too strong or overpowering. These products seem to be pretty high quality and only need a small amount, so I am hoping that it will last a while considering that I only use a small amount for my baby’s body and her skin is very soft after application!Overall, good value for money; this would make a great gift for a new baby.

Full Disclosure: I came back to edit this review. I assumed the products were fake, because, hey, it’s Amazon and I was uneducated about the brand. I learned a bit more about it and I am impressed. One thing I didn’t know is that there is an official Makari store on Amazon. I said I would have given this five stars if it were not for the high price. It’s not high priced given the quality. My apologies to the brand for my cranky, cynical previous review!As to the quality of the items included, they are all very good. The hand cream smells great – like baby powder combined with a dainty hand cream. It’s great! It also leaves the skin very soft. It’s in my opinion, the best product in the kit. The hair and body gel is similarly wonderful smelling. It also seems to clean well and offer great skin care, despite being very gentle. There is a cute baby elephant toy as a bonus item in the kit, which my baby now being grown, I gave to my cat to snuggle with.I have eczema and this stuff is great. I will be back. Thank you for the opportunity to test these products.

A Thoughtful & Gentle Baby Care SetThis Makari Baby Care Set makes a wonderful first impression; the gift box with a little window is a nice touch, and the included elephant stuffy is absolutely adorable and super soft. I ordered this set for a gift at a baby shower for someone I don’t know well, but as a mom myself, I know you can never have too much bath stuff! The bottles are very large compared to normal baby products. However, for the price, that should be expected. The scents are pleasant and subtle. And, the elephant plush is adorable. The green gel is really as green as pictured.Pros: Large product sizes; gentle, pleasant scent; very moisturizing; adorable stuffed elephant; versatile cleansing milk.Cons: Contains almonds (allergy concern).Overall this set is ideal for new parents looking for premium, gentle products, or as a really thoughtful baby shower gift. I would absolutely recommend it for its quality and lovely presentation.

Hesitation on some ingredients
Such a lovely packaged set, perfectly giftable with this presentation. This set contains the darling stuffed elephant, a 17 oz. bottle of baby moisturizing milk, 16.9 oz. of baby hair & body foaming gel, and 8.45 oz. of softness care baby oil. My intention was to try these products myself, because my dermatologist recommended that due to my sensitive skin issues that I focus more on baby care products. This is b/c many baby products do not have synthetic chemicals or additives and often have no fragrance. Since a baby has presumed delicate skin compared to most adults, it’s prudent to check ingredients and lean on the side of gentle skincare.ProsA very nice and giftable package.• Baby Moisturizing Milk has sweet almond oil & calendula extract. A creamy body lotion and it feels very moisturizing as it spreads easily on the skin.• Baby Hair & Body Foaming Gel has the foaming quality that I always enjoy and I love the green color. It includes panthenol & coconut extract, leaves skin clean and smells great.• Softness Care Baby Oil has sweet almond & calendula oils & squalane, plus caprylic triglyceride (a better emollient alternative than other synthetic chemicals), all ingredients that I personally appreciate. IMO, this is my favorite of the 3, nourishes and hydrates my skin well and sinks in quickly.Cons• Baby Moisturizing Milk has mineral oil, fragrance, DMDM Hydantoin, and Disodium EDTA. These give me a personal pause with my sensitive skin, I have had reactions in the past to products with 1 or more of these. It’s important for me to note that, so far, I’ve used it sparingly on my legs with no irritation.• Baby Hair & Body Foaming Gel has parfum (fragrance), SLS (sodium laureth sulfate), cocamidopropyl betaine (voted 2004 allergen of the year by the American Contact Dermatitis Society), and methylisothiazolinone (voted 2013 allergen of the year by the American Contact Dermatitis Society). This left my skin feeling dry after each washing and in need of moisturizer, but that is common for me with many soaps.• Softness Care Baby Oil has parfum (fragrance). My personal preference is to use unscented skincare products.I do understand that us older adults had many products used on us when we were babies that had many ingredients that are shied away from today, and we were just fine with it. However, while it may be rare for many people to have an irritation or reaction to something (like I do), doing a patch test is something to help ensure your baby can tolerate all the combined ingredients in any given product. With a few concerns that I have with some of the ingredients, this set rates 3 stars in my book, given the intended recipient is a little one.
