Leaking? I’ve got an easy fix!
First of all, I love this Brita. It fits perfectly in my fridge, has great capacity, filters water quickly, water tastes great, etc. Highly recommend. After a few weeks of using this filter, it started leaking. First a little, then a lot. I thought it was broken. I exchanged it for a new one. Then after a few weeks, that one started leaking. I went down some Reddit sub threads and found a potential fix that seemed so obvious but easy, and it worked! If your filter starts leaking, let the tap “snap” back, instead of closing it gently. When closing it gently, the valve doesn’t always close fully, but it does when you let the tap “snap”.

Great alternative to the refrigerator build-in dispenser
We used the build-in water dispenser from our refrigerator for years and were eventually just tried of the slow water flow and expensive filters. We decided to try one of these even though we were hesitant to give up space in our refrigerator. After just a day or so, we knew we made the right call! The cons: it sucks to fill up. Yes, use the water line through refrigerator was much easier to use as we didn’t have to fill it up. So there’s no getting around that. But, we just try to top it off each day so that it never gets too low. It’s not hard to fill up, it just takes time since you have to let it slowly drain. So don’t let it get too empty! The pros: much colder water, faster water flow, and cheaper filters. Our refrigerator filters are $50+ so these are much cheaper. The water flow to fill our bottles is also much faster than our built-in fridge water. And on top of that, the water is colder which is a nice perk.Overall, definitely recommend!Note: I forgot to mention, our first unit had a leaky spigot. It would drip in our fridge and was quite messy. I contacted Brita and they sent me a replacement unit which has been great for several months now.

Don’t miss/lose the rubbery ring on the spigot!
Does exactly what it should. We keep it on the counter for the kids to get water easily. It leaked a bit after I cleaned it but I quickly discovered that I had dislodged the little rubbery ring from the spigot (it was on there but I hadn’t noticed it while washing). Don’t lose that piece or it will leak because that is what seals it! Once I put it back on properly it was perfect no more leak no problems.

    The best water dispenser available.
Enjoying good tasting water and it’s easy to own. The filters are relatively inexpensive, easy to install, and water flows through them quite easily. Change these regular filters every 40 -60 gallons, which, in our case, is about every three months.

Twisted Love for a Leaky Brita in the fridge
So I bought this without reading the reviews and thought that it’d be something I might not wind up using. Well, it came, I put it in the fridge, and everyone immediately fell in love with it, including my teenagers, which I hadn’t expected at all. Then after a day, it started leaking. It made me insane. One issue is that with the design of the spigot, when our fridge door shuts, it pushes the water filter back. Then, when you open the fridge again, you have to pull the Brita forward before trying to get water because otherwise, the water will splash all over the fridge. So there was much sticking of post it notes and warning everyone and suspecting who was not doing it right. The problem was, everyone loved the filter and kept using it and I was mopping up the water all the time. Then, I was home alone and realized that it was leaking by itself. I read the reviews at last and learned it was a common issue, esp in the fridge, I think because some of the parts contract when cold. Mine stopped leaking if I kept it on the counter. I tried all the easy fixes, nothing worked. So I returned it, got a replacement and did what one of the reviews said, which was to buy this other spigot and replace it on my new one.It is PERFECT. It fixed both problems. The design somehow allows me to close my fridge without it affecting the placement of the Brita. It doesn’t leak at all. It was super easy to replace, like you literally just unscrew the existing spigot and screw the new one in (you don’t use one of the stainless steel plates in the front because it won’t fit but it doesn’t affect it at all). So no more needing to move the Brita after closing the fridge door, no more water in my fridge and everyone is using this thing all day long. The water tastes amazing. This is the spigot I got based on the other reviews (Dozyant):https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RPBQBQ4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

    Great buy
Amazing value, great capacity! Water taste is pure and it filters all the stuff the floats around in my tap water, we have well water so we get a lot of sediment, it filters quickly and after sitting in the fridge for a day you’ll always have cold water so long you keep it topped up

    Cracked but Brita replaced it
The cracked and leaked water all over my counter. However, Brita replaced it with a better model.

I’ve been a long time Brita customer. Decided to try out this larger water dispenser. On my first order, the dispenser came with a crack right above the tap. I thought it was a cosmetic defect and added water and was assured that it was a crack as water started leaking from the crack. My thought was that the seller placed the filter unsecured in the tank and with the shipping and moving, the filter has cracked the tank from the inside. Fortunately, Amazon customer support provided me with a refund. I was determined to get my Brita XL filter so I’ve placed another order. This time, this tank came plastic wrapped. The filter was secured. However, I noticed that right above the tap (same spot as before), there was a crack (the plastic wrap still on, the kind that is hot-sealed, not taped-sealed). Twice this happened, in two separate orders! Returned my product, not sure if I’m making a third order… I wouldn’t even think about ordering but I just bought an expensive box of Brita long-lasting filter (the premium kind that filters for more contaminants and lasts 6 months) for my dispenser which would go to waste unless I get another Brita dispenser. Order at your own risk!

Works great. Here in Montreal the water is quite heavy. Just remember to change the filter (white) every 2 months, and clean the whole interior of the dispenser (upper and lower level) once a week to taste good water.

Recomendable

Bought this as a temporary solution due to water machine breakdown and we are liking it. Slim design fits in fridge comfortably next to the juice. Been using it a few months and the tap is still working as it did the day we got it. Uses the standard brita filter which is all we need to filter our area’s tap water.
